Dunk for Diabetes

Dunks for Diabetes has two upcoming events led by Manitou campers! ‘D4D’ is a basketball competition founded by former Manitou camper and counselor Jordan Yaffe. In Maryland , Mason Berk is heading his second annual tournament. Details can be found here

The Miami event will take place during the weekend of April 13-14 at the University of Miami basketball complex – led by campers Zach and Tyler Marcus. Zach is looking for volunteers and sponsors. Campers can earn community service hours by volunteering, and the competition is open to 3rd through 12th-grade players. To learn more, email Zach at

This past summer marked the 10th year of Experience Camps. In 2009, the first program opened, with 27 boys at Camp Manitou, and they’ve been off and running ever since. This coming summer, Experience Camps will have over 700 campers at 5 locations around the country. Camp Manitou and our families are terrific supporters of the organization and we thank everyone for spreading the word about the Experience Camp Magic. Recently, rising high senior, Jonathan Merlin has begun a 7 week long campaign helping to cure blood cancer. He is working with the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, one of the United State’s largest organizations trying to cure the disease, on his journey to raising $100,000 dollars for this worthy cause. Former camper and incoming Junior Counselor Jonathan Goldstein will be traveling to Nepal this spring as a member of his high school’s Build On leadership program.
