Letters From Parents
Here's what our parents think about Manitou.
Thanks for the wonderful summer our son Eian had. The only phrases he has ever used to describe his summers at Manitou are "AWESOME" and "sooo much fun." Even though he arrived at home in California late last night, I heard many stories about friends and experiences at camp. ELLIOT, BERKELY, CA
We wanted to let you know that Andrew had a great summer at camp. He truly enjoyed himself and said this second session was the best he had at camp. From College League and Color War to all of his activities- he said it was so much fun. He also liked the boys in the bunk for second session as well. He was very proud of winning the Uncle Henry award and his sailing award. We appreciate all of the time you spent with Andrew and with us to help make his summer so enjoyable. It is very comforting to know that you would take such an interest and spend so much time with Andrew to make sure that he was happy. He got off the bus yesterday and told us that he wanted to return next summer for his fifth summer. Thanks so much for all the time and effort you put in to giving all of these boys a great experience! VICKI & MICHAEL, SUDBURY, MA
Thank you and all involved for yesterday. The camp grounds look beautiful and your new additions are very impressive. Harley has had a wonderful summer, with so many choices of his favorite activities, he didn't know which ones to pick first! I continue to tell my friends how happy we all are about camp. I must tell you how grateful I am to whoever runs the meals. Harley told us about his breakfast and lunches and I was so pleased with the healthy choices made available. As you know, he has many allergies and they are never a problem thanks to your well balanced menus (soy milk, oatmeal cookies not just chocolate chip, and lots of fresh fruit). CAROLYN & DAVID, MIAMI BEACH, FL
Thanks for your nice letter. You articulated so well the valuable life lessons one can get at Manitou - as a camper, counselor and even as a director. I have always regretted not being a counselor after being a camper for 8 years. I did something that summer that was important for college (and like you, I also went to Tufts). Fortunately, Andrew is smarter than me and I don't think he'll let anything interfere with the opportunity to be a junior counselor if that is offered to him (of course, you may need to write a college recommendation for him....) GERI, HOLDEN, MA
We just wanted to let you know that Andrew is having a wonderful summer. He told us it was his best summer up there. I think it helps to be with the same group of boys - some of whom he's been with for 5 years. He likes his counselors very much. We had an opportunity to meet Mike and Wes in his bunk and they were very capable and nice guys. The camp looked great! The new Alumni Hall and the office & infirmary are beautiful new buildings and the hall in particular is a great facility for the camp. Your trips are very special for the senior boys. Andrew is really looking forward to going to Ohio on this trip. I also think it is really nice for the 5 year campers to have a plaque made for them in the hall. As someone that went there for 9 years in the 70's and 80's it makes me so happy and proud that you have continued the great tradition of the camp. You guys did a great job. Our son had a great summer, thanks and keep up the good work!STEVE & TAMRA, MIAMI, FL
As always we had a wonderful time and the boys would stay at camp 12 months of the year if they could. It is always great to get to know Mike and Jon's close friends, since they both keep in touch with their Manitou friends all year round. Manitou has become such an important part of their lives. You guys are definitely doing something right. SHARON & DOUG, NEW CANAAN, CT
