Summer Camp Quotes
Here's what our campers and staff are saying about Manitou.
I play sports all year and love playing at camp. I learned lacrosse at Manitou five years ago and improve every year by taking the instructionals and attending evening clinics with the lacrosse counselors. College League and Color War are awesome - my favorite activities at camp. The enthusiasm and camaraderie with your teammates is what it's all about and I can’t wait to come back as a counselor and lead one of the teams.Michael, Potomac, MD
Going to Manitou for the first time, I was a little nervous not knowing anyone. But as soon as I arrived, I met my counselors, who knew my name and helped me adjust very quickly. It was cool to meet kids in my bunk from all over the country – many who were also attending for the first time and didn’t know anyone either. I like sports, but don’t really specialize in one so I was thrilled to discover that Manitou offers so much. I learned to wakesurf and waterski and picked up fencing, computer animation and tennis.
I can’t wait for summer #2 to reunite with all of my bunkmates! Josh, Wynnewood, PA
2007 was my first summer at Manitou and the best summer of my life. I teach watersports and it was so rewarding to see kids come out and try waterskiing, wakeboarding and surfing for the first time - especially when furnished with Manitou's incredible equipment. The lake was also perfect with a nice temperature and a smooth water surface. The other staff were very friendly and we shared a common goal of improving the skills and confidence of all campers in the water. Andrew, Omaha, NE
This was my fourth summer at Manitou as a counselor and my 10th summer overall. I spent six years as a camper and then completed the CIT program and Junior Counselor program to be a full-fledged counselor. It has always been a dream of mine to work at Manitou. I am currently a student at Skidmore College and play varsity basketball there. At camp, I coach basketball and supervise a cabin of 11 year olds – a group of campers I have been with since they were 8. Ryan, West Hartford, CT
